The BDFL institutes the new Waiver Week to help the league's teams shore up their last weak link for a run

NO MAN'S LAND - The BDFL has instituted the new “Waiver Week” after Week 11 games have been completed and before Week 13 game starters are due because of the short Thanksgiving week. Every team will be able to drop one player and pick up one player currently not on a BDFL roster. This will be done on a first come, first serve basis via an email to the Commissioner, Iron Hand. If the same player is selected, he will go to the lowest point total team and the others will be able to make another "waiver" selection in a timely fashion. This will eliminate a travesty like the PowerSleds had last year when both of his kickers got hurt and he was without a starting player due to no fault of his own and with limited means to replace these players because nobody in their right mind would trade for an injured player at that position, starter, or back-up that late in the year. This will commonly be referred to in the BDFL as the “Tender Ham Rule”

Kevin Smith heads to the Grenadiers on the Waiver Week option

The new Waiver Wire Week changes

> RB-Smith/DET to Grenadiers replacing RB-Battle/KC.

> RB-Ogbonnaya/CLE to the Blitz replacing RB-Brown/IND.

> RB-Choice/BUF to Gamblers replacing RB-Jackson/BUF.

> QB-Hanie/CHI to Mayors replacing QB-Schaub/HOU.

> WR-Nelson/BUF to Cheetahs replacing WR-Williams/TB

Steiger Supplemental Draft has been completed with 12 new players coming into the BDFL

PARTS UNKNOWN - Designed to enhance the competitive nature of the BDFL, the Steiger Supplemental Draft is to patch-up weak spots in the league's rosters due to injury, bad draft picks, doghouse situations and other unfortunate incidents that can happen over the first half of the season. This two-round all email draft allows teams to drop a player each round and draft another "un-rostered" player to take his place. This "drop/add" process has been the spearhead to BDFL championships in the past, so this opportunity can really help a team out. Many players have come into the BDFL over the years through the Sup Draft such as Tony Romo and have helped propel their teams to the Big Daddy Championship Series (BDCS). This year's crop could be one of the best all-time with a good mixture of savvy veterans like Carson Palmer and John Kuhn along with new stars like Victor Cruz and James Jones and fresh new rookies like Christian Ponder and Jonathan Baldwin.

A new "Waiver Week" and post-season seeding in the semi-finals highlight two new changes for the 2011 season:

#1. Tender Ham Rule: The BDFL will institute a “Waiver Week” after Week 11 games have been completed and before Week 13 game starters are due. Every team will be able to drop one player and pick up one player currently not on a BDFL roster. This will be done via email in the reverse order of the total point standings at this time. This will eliminate a travesty like the PowerSleds had this year when both of his kickers got hurt and he was without a starting player due to no fault of his own and with limited means to replace these players because nobody in their right mind would trade for an injured player at this position, starter, or back-up. This will commonly be referred to in the BDFL as the “Tender Ham Rule”.

#2. Lowly Wizards Rule: The BDFL post-season will take a page from the NFL and NHL to name a few other leagues and match up the highest seeds with the lowest seeds in the semi-finals just as it is currently done in the first round of the BDCS and BMS, after the first round games have been decided. In other words, the brackets will go week by week to add more drama and to assure the best match-ups and award the higher seeds for their regular season merits. For instance, if a #1, #7, #3 and a #4 all win their games in the first round, then the #1 will play the #7 and the #3 will play the #4 in the semi-finals. This is not the current play-off structure in the BDFL, but will be until further notice and should provide for a more competitive Big Daddy Bowl in the future. This will commonly be referred to in the BDFL as the “Lowly Wizards Rule”.
